Fund Summary
The objective of this fund is to provide broad exposure to international equity markets outside of the Eurozone. It does so by aiming to track the performance of an underlying index of international shares rather than by active management. The fund is currently aiming to track the FTSE All World Developed ex Eurobloc Index through a SSgA Ireland managed fund but may elect to track other appropriate international indices. The FTSE All World Developed ex Eurobloc Index comprises of large and mid cap stocks providing coverage of world developed markets outside of the Eurozone. As an equity fund, this fund has a potentially high return but also a high risk profile given the risks inherent in investing in equities. The fund can be volatile over short to medium term periods.

Market Commentary
The third quarter of 2017 was a broadly positive period for the world's financial markets, with a narrative of healthy economic data and strong corporate profitability underpinning equity gains.

While equity volatility remained remarkably low through much of the quarter, investors were intermittently rattled by geopolitical shifts; most notably, the ramping up of tensions between the US and North Korea over the latter's missile tests.

US economic data was generally strong, with Q2 GDP growth recorded at 3.1% annualised. The jobs market remains healthy, notwithstanding the impact from Hurricanes Harvey and Irma that temporarily drove jobless claims higher. The storms will result in slower Q3 growth, but the reconstruction process will likely boost Q4 growth. The Conference Board's consumer confidence index remains close to a 16-year high, although annual wage growth was stuck at 2.5% in each of the five months to August. The S&P 500 Index was up 3.6% for the quarter. Corporate newsflow was generally positive - US earnings growth of c.10.3% in Q2 meant that profits grew by double-digits in consecutive quarters for the first time since 2011.

Difficult Brexit negotiations and rate hike speculation coloured the UK backdrop in the quarter. While unemployment remains exceptionally low, the headline annual inflation rate of 2.9% in August is more than offsetting annual wage growth of 2.1%. A recovery in sterling on rising expectations of a near-term rate hike dragged on UK equities as the FTSE 100 underperformed its peers with a three-month return of just 0.8%. The FTSE 250 did relatively better in returning 2.8%. Emerging markets equities have benefited from the weak dollar in 2017 which, alongside improving economic growth and stronger earnings, helped attract investors. Rising oil and related commodity prices bolstered some market gains. The MSCI Emerging Markets Index returned 7.9% in USD terms. Japan's economy grew 0.6% in Q2, for year-on-year growth of 1.4%. The labour market remains tight, with a jobless rate of 2.8% - there are 152 job vacancies for every 100 applicants. Inflation remains subdued, with headline and core inflation rates at 0.7% and 0% respectively. Improving global growth helped exports grow 18% y/y in August, with 15% import growth indicative of firm domestic demand. The Nikkei 225 returned 1.6% in Q3.
